Cellist Ben Sollee has been added to the upcoming Now Listen Here open mic. Over the last two decades, Kentuckian Ben Sollee has distinguished himself as multi-faceted creative, blurring the lines between music, tech, and activism. A graduate of the Univeristy of Louisville School of Music, he holds a BFA in cello performance. Since his debut record in 2008, Mr. Sollee has released 6 studio records and nearly 10 EPs garnering praise from the New York Times and NPR.
Now Listen Here is going virtual once again, and this time we mean Brunch! We’ll be on Zoom March 21, starting at 11am Eastern for another open mic production, when the theme will be Absolutely Fabulous! It's time to gather around the table and enjoy a lavish meal and dish out Absolutely Fabulous true stories featuring cellist, Ben Sollee and Stories from the Stage co-host, Theresa Okokon!
What's your true story of Indulgence, Extravagance, or Glamour? Drop your name in the hat then drop your best story on the mic!
Prepare a true, 5-minute story of the time you had it all and then some!
When you join the event, let the moderator know that you want to throw your name in the jug.
Then, sit back and enjoy the show while you wait for your turn in the spotlight!
It's brunch, so bring your favorite beverage and brunch grub!
Zoom doors open at 10:50 amET with music from Ben Sollee at 11:am.
The Now Listen Here team has recently gone through some changes as one member moved on and two more came aboard. Julie Baker left in December in order to pursue a new project. And in January, Nora Weiss and Zach Stewart accepted official roles as producers of the series after being long time supporters of the series. Learn more about Zach and Nora on our About Us page.
Starting over the winter months, the Now Listen Here team has been working on putting together a live series on Instagram. So far we have managed to post three episodes while working on honing our skills. We are a work in progress and as the series evolves, we’ll keep posting episodes. The Instagram series is focused on providing stories from many first time tellers about their own experiences and are followed up with short Q&A sessions about the storytellers and their experiences.
If you have a great story to tell or know someone that does, email the team at Stories@NowListenHere.org and we’ll try to get them on the show!
We will soon be anouncing live show dates and locations. We have been hard at work trying to secure locations for safe outdoor locations. Check back soon!
Not sure if you’re ready to get in front of a crowd to share your story? Have no fear, we need you there just to soak in the stories. Without an audience, we’ve go no stories to share. Are you interested in becoming a storyteller but want some training first, great, we’ve got you covered in that regard as well. Now Listen Here offers workshops on storytelling that are open to all interested in becoming better public speakers.
Workshop sessions will be held digitally for the foreseeable future.
